Somerset Local Food is a Community Benefit Society, owned and financed by the local community, delivering fresh, local and ethically sourced food direct to the homes of local residents across Bristol, Bath and Somerset each week since 2002.

We think it’s important that you know where your food comes from, who produced it and how it was produced, how it supports local communities, helps to preserve the natural environment and mitigates against climate change.

It is vital that small scale, local food producers have access to a wider customer base than just through farm-gate sales and attending local markets in order for their businesses to become financially viable, whilst also increasing employment opportunities for local people.

We provide that essential link between local producers and consumers across the wider Somerset area, and contribute to creating a healthy, vibrant local food culture and thriving rural economy for the good of everyone.

“Food is the most important thing to our health and to our life, yet we degrade it and don’t value it properly. At the end of the day, farmers will only produce what the consumer wants. It’s about everybody taking responsibility, taking more interest in their food and where it’s produced.” Rob Walrond, Glebe Farm

We are also working with local therapeutic growing projects to help them become more financially sustainable through the sale of naturally grown produce and have plans to deepen and broaden our social impact in the near future, including finding ways to address food poverty and help our elder population remain living independently in their own homes through provision of ready-to-heat meals made with fresh, local ingredients to supplement their weekly grocery shop delivered direct to their homes, especially in rural areas that have seen village shops close and bus services cut.
